The Evolution of a Logo

Jul 15, 2013

Ahh the logo. Over the years, my views have changed somewhat on the role of a logo. I used to see it as needing to be an iconic, unchanging bastion of consistency in an ever-changing marketplace. Brand guidelines were de riguer and were meant to be followed to the letter. Well, then I got bored with my own logo.

All The Logos

Now I like to think of a logo as an extension of a brand’s personality. We all change our look from time to time and to me, the same can hold true for a brand. Over the years I’ve experimented with several versions and variations of my logo; some that made brief appearances and some that never saw the light of day.

The first version of the Blind Pig Design logo, early illustrations and a “futuristic” logo for tees.

The current version of the Blind Pig Design logo actually started out as a promotional illustration I used on tee shirts years ago. I have an “imprinted apparel” background (that’s what we call it in the biz) so screen printed tees and embroidered hats were always something I liked to have.

I’m pretty satisfied with the current version and I don’t have any itch to start playing around with new ideas…but who knows where it’ll go next?
